These belong to the first generation of PE-RT materials, referred to as PE-RTI With the continuous development of PE synthesis technology, from 2000 onwards, DOWChemical, Basel and some Korean companies have introduced the second generation of PE-RT, referred to as PE-RTII Compared with PE-RTI, PE-RTII is stronger at high temperatures, with better creep resistance. The wall thickness can be reduced in use, which can certainly save raw materials, reduce costs and increase the diameter.
PE-RTII high temperature advantage is obvious
However, this advantage of PE-RTII can only be clearly reflected in the high temperature hot water environment. This can be seen in the PE-RTI and PE-RTII size selection:
PE-RT pipe size selection should be based on the use of environmental conditions, different conditions of use, as the basis for design and use - pipe series S value is also different. And S value is associated with the pipe size. With the same number of series S value of the pipe, the same size. That is to say, the selected S value of the pipe is selected the size of the pipe. However, the wall thickness of pipes with different S-values is different. For example, PPR φ20 pipe for cold water systems often choose S5 and S4 series, wall thickness of 2.0 mm and 2.3 mm; it is used for hot water systems generally choose S3.2 and S2.5 series, wall thickness of 2.8 mm and 3.4 mm.
So, how to choose the size of PE-RTI and PE-RTII pipe in floor heating system? In this regard, ISO22391-2009, German standard DIN16833-2009 and the new draft national standard (Ministry of Construction standard CJ/T175-2002) make relevant provisions. According to the data given by these standards, we can see: PE-RTI and PE-RTII in the same design under the same pressure to use the same number of series of pipe selection, that is, the size is exactly the same.
Why is this so? The reason is that PE-RTII has more significant advantages in high-temperature hot water environments, but the temperature of the floor heating system is lower, and the strength of PE-RTII compared with PE-RTI at low temperatures does not improve much, and it is not enough to play a role in reducing the wall thickness, saving raw materials and increasing the through diameter. If it is in a high temperature environment, this characteristic of PE-RTII will be clearly manifested.
At present, the hot and cold water pipe market is mainly occupied by PPR pipe, can PE-RT pipe further expand its influence with its advantages of high temperature resistance, so that it occupies a dominant position in the hot and cold water market? We still need to wait and see.
